Odessassa vietettiin Perhelomaa

In spite of the present difficulties in Ukraine, we were able to have a two week Bus4Life outreach during October in Southern Ukraine. Ministry opportunities occurred in 13 villages and towns. It was very encouraging to hear that people were eager to visit the bus. Ministry was in cooperation with local churches, a Christian publishing house and another mission organisation.

There were two main functions with this outreach: one was to distribute literature through the bus and the second was having what our partners call “family holiday” around the bus. This is an outreach to the local community where the children and parents are invited to participate in various activities.

Our partner working with these family outreaches shares: “There is a missionary pastor that has been serving in Odessa for five years in a home church. A year ago, God enabled him and his church to buy a building in the middle of a residential area that had been used as a bar. Even though the pastor gave out invitations and did everything he could to invite their new neighbours to their services, people did not respond. Then God opened the community’s heart through the Bus4Life Family Holiday. He was so appreciative and kept saying what a miracle God was doing. Many people who had refused invitations in the past were now in the church and said they would come again.”

Kuusi muutakin lasta saivat mahdollisuuden saada Uudet testamentit. Oli ilo nähdä, miten innoissaan lapset olivat Raamatuistaan ja miten he halusivat oppia lisää.

Driver Esa and a team of 10 young people traveled to 5 towns and villages in Northern Moldova for evangelistic outreaches 2-11 of October. There were programs for children with fun games, songs, stories, questions and memory verses. Through their programs, the team encouraged the local churches to reach out to the young generation. They invited people to visit the bus full of literature and had many opportunities to speak about spiritual matters. Some were open to pray for salvation and light was communicated into lives that had previously not had this hope.

One father shared that on the first evening of the bus visit he could not go to sleep because his son kept telling him that he wanted to go to the bouncy castle which is set up next to the bus.

In another town, 10 year old Dima stood out among the other children as he gazed in wonder at the literature in the bus. He was astonished to see so many books and was examining them very carefully. The first book he took in his hands was called “Life with God”. One team member directed him to take a Children’s Bible and encouraged him to read it and listen to what was written in it. After that, six other children were encouraged to take New Testaments. It was such a delight to see these children excited about God’s Word and interested to know more.
